I just saw this while lurking through the web. I wasn't planning on posting anything tonight/today and was just about to sign off and actually go to bed when I saw this and decided to share it.

I like what the person on here, Kat, says about the good experience vs bad experience.

My mom once a few years ago went to this car dealership in North Carolina where we lived called Bell Ford. We stopped, we stayed for HOURS, and she found a car she really liked so we stayed longer for them to go through the whole rigamorale of crossing the T's and dotting the I's. Well, we were getting to the signing part and my mom asks... " Do you have a 24 hour policy?" She couldn't think of the exact words, but what she wanted to know was, basically if she decided she either didn't like it, or it wasn't the right car and wanted to try again, or if she finally thought about it and relized she couldn't make the monthly payments if she could return the car in 24 hours.
Well the dealers get all upset about that. They start blaming my mom acting like she's 3 years old and are telling her 'well, the bank says you've got plenty of money' (don't we wish). And before my mom can say another word, the guy we're with to sign the papers, takes those papers in question, tears them up into little pieces and throws them over his head, saying "You don't want the car... fine."
My mom and I get up to leave and the other dealer, the one we took the car for a test drive, is asking us what happend. And in the beginning we had liked this guy, nice, friendly, people person. My mom explains and the man looks at her and says "That wasn't very nice of you."
We leave with my mom telling them "I work at a daycare where A LOT of people come in and know A LOT of other people, I will be telling them of what happened here."
Case in point: The dealership closed down. (whether or not what happend to her made any difference it still points this out).


And as for the Good:
I was going to save this for another post, and I still will make a more detailed post later on when I can get some better pictures. But there is a resturant off of Missiouri Rd in Largo, FL in the Wal-Mart plaza called "MARIA'S KITCHEN" this is, for lack of a better word: AWESOME.

It is a family owned business. The staff, which consists of mostly family plus a few extras thrown in. Are friendly and will joke around with you. The food is wonderful. Not only does it come beautifully prepared, but it tastes perfect And they feed you at this place. The prices are outstanding with wonderful specials.
Although the inside is bit small, and certain times it's rather crowded, it's more than worth it. The first time I went in it was so busy I sat at the counter. I'm glad I did.
So bare with me for a few days, and I'll post some pics, hopefully one of part of the menu, and maybe a pic of the food.

Price Check...

Alright.. at least once every single day will a customer come through my line at the register and while I'm ringing their items up, they will say to me "That's the wrong price." And they look at me like I'm suposed to know the price on every single item in the store.

First off: Cashiers do NOT know everything in the store. Really. I promise.
Second: Don't get mad when you have to wait for us to find out about the price. When we find out, whether or not it is, it helps our inventory and it helps the bottom line. I know what you're probably thinking now: 'why do i care about that?' well just like with theft, the more things leaving the store and the less money comming in the store means higher prices. Sucks hunh?

So here's so different reasons you might have been one of those people (I have been one):

  • New Employee Stocks shelves
  • Another Customer decides they don't want the item, lay it down somewhere
  • Kids move the item
  • Didn't get marked down (it happens)

Alright so there you have it, the four main reasons. So now, what can we do with this little bit of knowledge? Fix it of course. When I was working in toys I cannot tell you how many times I see a kid run up to their parents begging and pleading to get the toy, but when the parents said "no" the kid would turn, put it down on the shelf, no matter it didn't go there, and leave. My reason for saying this is to plead, beg, get down on my hands and knees and ask for you parents to PLEASE get your children to put things back where they belong! (okay, i'm done with that now).

But here's a few tips to keep from having a mis-labeled item.

  • Check the price.
  • On a UPC (the barcode that gets rung up) the LAST FOUR NUMBERS should match the tag where it was. If it doesn't match, that's probably the wrong item. And try to read that label too, most times it says what it is.
  • Price check at registers or the price check scanners. I know that Walmart has those, just about everywhere. Otherwise, go to Sporting-goods, Jewlery, Electronics, Garden Center, TLE, or any where else with a register and ask them to check the price.
  • Ask an associate. The SHOULD be able to tell you the price of something, or at least help finding if that's the right shelf-tag.
  • And the last thing, if you've got something, try to make sure there's a barcode ON that thing. If not, be curtious, if it's another shirt, go ahead and bring another one up that has the tag, tell the cashier which one you wanted and everthing peachy.
Alright, I can hear you thinking awfully loudly. You're thinking about the associate thing. Something like 'whenever i go in there there are no associates.' well that can't be COMPLETELY true. (well maybe at like 3 am) but if all else fails, find a cashier.

I have worked in retail for almost four years, in those four years I have done almost everything:
Stocked shelves
Rearanged shelves
Cashier
Customer Service
Sales Associate
Merchandise Supervisor
and I have been a Server/Waitress yes RESTRAUNTS ARE RETAIL.
I work at Walmart, and I will tell all (almost). Some you'll like and some you won't. I will not be putting any retail chains down, nor will I put down customers or other associates. I have been on both sides of the fence so if I'm complaining about something... that's all it is, a complaint.
